Always works
I have given other brands a chance but none work for a full month except Frontline plus. I recently had a flea issue with my yard and while treating the yard I tried other brands. Nothing worked as good so I switched back to frontline. You don’t know how bad it can get if you try to save money and you could end up spending more. Will always buy this brand from now on.

Protects dog-Kills bugs-Bit tedious to apply
Had to straddle my dog by pinching knees while standing. For dogs with thicker coat it maybe hard to get to the skin so it can be absorbed. I personally like it because no flea collars. Not too much of a pain once a month.

Easy and effective.
I have two golden retrievers that love to play in the yard and eat anything that falls from our trees. Last year our dogs had fleas and we used a different brand of flea and tick medicine and it took multiple uses and strange application. This applicator was easy, simple, and in one spot.

Works, safe, but not instant results
Super easy to use and apply. No smell, no unusual behavior from our dog afterwards. Keep in mind, this does not work immediately, and the instructions even state this fact. It takes time to work.By month three, after the third application our flea problem was completely gone. Before we started using this product the fleas has gotten so bad that they were in multiple areas of the house the dog had been. Using only this product and vacuuming and cleaning regularly completely eradicated the nuisance. Most importantly, our manchester terrier is completely healthy and fine after usage, and pest free.

Kills fleas
If you’ve had a pet with fleas you know it quickly becomes a nightmare. After finding your socks and ankles have fleas and bites you snap. You take matters in your own hands. But they somehow dont die. No. Tiger pits, dropping anvils, 12 gauge….they always survive, like they’re thumbing their nose at you.My neighbor came by after hearing a couple of frags going off in my home. The little zombies still hadn’t died and I was filled with rage, frustration, and flea bites. He recommended Frontline. This stuff works. It makes the little vampires sterile. At first there’s no break. But after 3 days I did notice a small difference. 10 days in I barely saw a flea. 14 days until several years later (now) fleas have been non existent. It does kill ticks, and it kills fleas eggs, or maybe flea hatchlings. Don’t remember. What I do remember is this stuff works great. And my dog is happier

Your Safest Bet For A Product You Wish You Didn’t Need.
Allow me to caveat this review by saying out of 700 plus reviews this is the most difficult to write as I despise having to use pesticides on our dogs. That said, we live in Tick and Flea central, surrounded by deep woods and our bulldogs are in every sense of the word family and we do whatever we must to protect them. That said if you’re reading these reviews your dog or dogs are your heart too and using these products is a difficult choice to make, but it’s one we have to make.On that note, it’s my hope the following information has some value for you.Frontline was first put into clinical trials in 1985 shortly after the discovery of it’s active ingredient Fipronil. To it’s credit Frontline has maintained the safest albeit not the most effective treatment for fleas and ticks. However, the more effective products pose a significantly greater risk to your dog. It’s a slippery slope, but in evaluating what’s best for your dog by providing the highest level protection with the lowest risk Frontline and FrontLine Plus are in my opinion your best bet. Most tick and flea products contain Permethrin which may also be listed as Lyclear or Nix as the active ingredient. Permethrin is a lethal neurotoxin that flows through the dogs circulatory system and flushes into every major organ – including the brain where it can do dire damage. Thousands of dogs die every year from Permethrin. Although the FDA has mandated a minimal use not to exceed 750PPM companies continue to ignore the guidline because it’s cheap and effective, and sadly it’s our dogs that pay the price. What makes Permethrin so dangerous is that it can’t distinguish between insects and mammals which of course includes human beings. It’s been known to be lethal to cats since the 1970’s. In fact it’s so deadly to cats that even a slight transfer from dog to cat can result in seizures, brain damage and death. Permethrin is volatile as well – meaning it’s airborne properties pose a threat to all who breath it in – humans included.Frontline on the other hand uses Fipronil. Fipronil is an insecticide.Like any chemical of this nature it can be lethal at too high of a dose. However studies including those from the Department of Environmental Conservation have determined time and time again that as long as the amount of Fipronil is at the correct dose for the weight and size of your dog toxicity is far easier to avoid and the product much safer for your dog. Unlike Premethrin, Fipronil is absorbed into the hair follicles and oil glands only. It is not absorbed into the dogs system nor is it volatile so you and your beloved pets and children can breath easy. The second active ingredient in FrontLine Plus is Methoprene which is a long existing and time proven IGR (insect growth regulator) it’s distributed exactly like Fipronil but only acts on flea and tick eggs and Larvae – this is important because it kills these vermin at the start of a new life cycle. What is more, the diseases that ticks carry now are infinitely more serious than the dreaded Lime disease – which for decades was the only concern.Competitors to Frontline (and some Vets selling other products) claim that fleas and ticks have become resistant to Frontline – However these pests have become resistant to some degree to all pesticides and no independent research exists to confirm this claim. I can assure you I’ve researched this in the greatest depth. The bottom line is this – all of these products pose a risk. The wise choice is to minimize that risk in your effort to protect your best friend from the diseases these vermin carry. Again, these diseases can be infinitely more lethal than the ingredients of the protection. To that end your safest and most effective choice is Frontline or Frontline Plus.In the event your pet has a bad reaction to Frontline products these are the symptoms you would see:* Restlessness* Itching* Vomiting* Difficulty Breathing* LethargyShould these symptoms occur, of course take your pet to your Veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately. It should be a comfort to know that unlike the toxic ingredients in most other flea and tick control products severe reactions to both Fipronil and Methoprene are rare.

Easy to apply
My dog has struggled with fleas. My vet told us to use this once a month during flea and tick season. It is very easy to apply and I set a calendar date for when to apply it next. My dog has no negative side effects and he longer itches his skin incessantly . This is a great product. Make sure to get the weight right.

Great deal
Ticks are so bad this year so we had to get something. I shopped around and priced Frontline at local pet stores and it cost so much more. So glad I found it here. Comes with a 3 month supply. It came with stickers that I can place on my calender as a reminder for when the next treatment is due. Our 76 lb shepherd husky handled the treatment well. Within a day, we started seeing ticks on our floor everywhere. They must have been dropping off of the dog. Ugh. We definitely won’t go without treating her anymore. Will likely continue with this brand. Recommend.

Frontline Works Best For Our Pets
I’ve been buying Frontline for years now and have found that it works the best and lasts the longest on our dogs. I’ve tried purchasing cheaper flea medications, but they either don’t work at all or only last about a week. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a flea medicine proven to work. Your dogs will thank you for it.

A cheaper alternative to Rx
I love my Dashund very much and take really good care of her. I’m finding that these drops work just as well as the Rx Sentinel I’ve been getting from the vet, which are way “TOO” expensive. Definitely suggest these as an excellent alternative.

Kills ticks…though a little late
My 65 pound lab mix loves to go for hikes in the woods every week, but in central PA our wooded areas have a massive tick problem. I bought the Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control liquid treatment because it has been recommended to me before, including by my vet. The product packaging also claims it will “kill 100% of adult fleas and 100% of all ticks within 48 hours.” It also claims to be waterproof for 30 days, and to “kill all eggs left on the dog’s coat.”After applying the capsule to our dog’s back, we took her on the trails the following week and after checking her right after, we didn’t find any ticks. However, two days later she did manage to scratch a tick off of her and fling it onto the coffee table! The tick was full, like a berry, and utterly disgusting, but the product worked. The tick was dead, as promised. It should be made known that although the tick was dead, and so it was unable (supposedly) to lay eggs on our dog (typically a tick will lay 50 eggs a day on your dog, I read, while Frontline claims to kill ticks within hours before this can happen), ticks can obviously still bite your dog with this product on them, which can still effectively expose your dog to Lyme disease. This bothers me, since the idea behind applying it in the first place was that we don’t want ticks biting her at all so she can avoid Lymes altogether. The product lost some points with me here. The company, Merial, which manufactures Frontline, is a global company responsible for producing vaccines and medications for farm animals as well as pets. They seem to have a reputable track record, with 5 manufacturing sites in the United States as well as other countries. According to my research, and what is posted on the Merial website, Frontline Plus uses two major chemicals to achieve results of killing fleas and ticks. Both of the chemicals, S-Methoprene and Fipronil are harmless to mammals. According to one report I read online, however, about 5% of the fipronil does get absorbed into the dog’s bloodstream, which can metabolate into a different compound which can be up to 20% more harmful to your dog than it is to the insects. The website where I found that information, Dogs Naturally Magazine, seems a bit biased, though, in its interests.Further research showed that around 80 percent of the contents of Frontline Plus are not chemicals that fight pests, they are ethanol, glycol ether, and otherwise “inactive” ingredients. Since these “other” ingredients are inert, Merial doesn’t have to disclose much about them. I didn’t notice any weird side effects with my dog after using Frontline, but part of me still wonders if it’s the safest thing for her, since the company didn’t list the other ingredients in the product. It’s a bit off-putting.After doing some research, it does appear vets have conflicting ideas about Frontline use. Some believe it is linked to major illness that can potentially be linked to a dog’s death, while others claim there is nothing to be concerned about. Many respond to the rumors that Frontline is not healthy for dogs by acknowledging that many people apply the product incorrectly to their dog, resulting in pets having a reaction. Also, you’re not supposed to put the product onto raw skin areas or open wounds on your pet, or feed it to your pet, as the box also warns. The consensus among most veterinarians, and myself, is that while there are more natural ways of protecting your dog against ticks (some people suggest neem oil as a good alternative – whatever that is!), using more natural methods may result in your dog getting more ticks, which may then lead to higher risks of contracting tick-borne illness. In a place where the tick problem is so rampant, like where we live, I’d rather not take my chances. Not using a chemical prevention method is a tradeoff many pet owners feel is not worth the risk.Overall, the product did what it said it was going to do, and for that it gets 5 stars. But because I don’t have a clear idea of what “other ingredients” are (the company does not disclose them on the packaging), and because the product didn’t kill a tick before it bit my dog, I give it an average of 3 stars. My expectations were higher than what the product delivered. Although, this was my pet’s first time using Frontline, so I’m wondering if more consistent treatment will lead to better results.

I gave this to my girl for over a year with no issues. I missed one month due to money. Repurchased the following month & now she is having allergic reaction. Itching & scratching.
