Description
From the manufacturer
Itâs Smart To Be Proactive!
The best way to keep your aquarium clean is to maintain good water quality. This will keep your fish strong and vibrant, as well as preventing disease.
How Do I Maintain A Healthy Environment?
It is important to test your aquarium water weekly to verify good quality in addition to a bi-weekly partial water change of no more than 25% to help reduce toxic buildup, remove debris the filter missed, and replenish the oxygen available to fish.
How Do I Take Good Care Of My Aquarium & Fish?
- Feed & observe fish daily
- Test water quality weekly
- Change 25% water every 2 weeks
- Restore your ecosystem monthly
Feed Your Fish Daily
Feed your fish twice daily with API Fish Food which contains nutritionally enhanced proteins, allowing for easy uptake of nutrients and maximum absorption, resulting in less excrement for clear, clean water. Take time to observe fish to ensure they are active & healthy and be sure to check water temperature.
Test Water Quality Weekly
An aquarium is a closed environment and in order for fish to thrive, water must be similar to that which could be found in their natural environment. Poor water quality can cause fish stress, illness and even loss. The 6 common water quality parameters are Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, and water hardness (GH and KH) – all of which may vary over time and all are invisible to the eye which is why it is important to test weekly with API MASTER TEST KITS or API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS. It is also a good time to add API STRESS ZYME to keep your aquarium & gravel clean.
Change 25% Water Every 2 Weeks
In a closed aquarium environment there are no natural rivers or streams to carry away debris and other waste materials. It is important to renew 25% of the aquarium water every two weeks. When you change the water, it is important to know that tap water contains chemicals that make it safe for us to drink but harmful for fish, therefore add a water conditioner such as API STRESS COAT.
Restore Your Ecosystem Monthly
It is important to change your filter media & clean gravel monthly, however in doing so it can disrupt the fragile ecosystem of your aquarium. Use API QUICK START to strengthen it with âbeneficialâ nitrifying bacteria that will naturally consume toxic compounds and help prevent fish stress. Also recommended when starting a new aquarium or changing the water.
FEED FISH DAILY
TEST WATER QUALITY WEEKLY
CHANGE 25% WATER EVERY 2 WEEKS
RESTORE ECOSYSTEM MONTHLY
Use Weekly Helps monitor water quality Keeps aquarium clean Use Every 2 Weeks Makes tap water safe when changing water Restores the ecosystem to help prevent fish stress Use Monthly Restores the ecosystem to help prevent fish stress Use When Adding New Fish Prevents disease breakout

Buy it!
Great stuff, been using it for years, never any ill effects from using it. I have 5 aquariums, ranging in size from 75 to 20 gallons and have been in the hobby for 45 years so I know my stuff. If you have one large tank or have a few tanks, buy the big jug, itâs worth the extra money and it seems it lasts forever!Highly recommended!

A Must Have & It Works Great!
I had a very stressed out blood parrot after moving him into a different aquarium. The water parameters were all normal so I knew it was due to stress from moving him and not from the water quality. Blood parrot cichlids don’t like being moved, they’re very territorial of their tanks and moving them tends to stress them out which causes the black discoloration. After just two doses of API Stress Coat combined with API Stress Zyme he’s back to his normal color in one week’s time! It works! Lowers stress in fish by 40%. Great to add to the aquarium when doing water changes, adding new fish, or just anytime. Also has aloe vera to coat damaged scales, fins, and tissue to aid in the healing process of injured fish or damage caused by tail biters. This is a must have in the aquarium world and I use it regularly! Works great! Highly recommend!

FIN REGROWTH!!!
I used this product in combination with some Betta Leaves to regrow my Bettaâs tail fin! The photos are before and after, about 4-5 weeks apart! I followed the double dose directions on the bottle and added every other week.It didnât look like fin rot to me, it looked like he had ripped it on something, so I decided not to treat with medicine and this worked so well with the leaves as well! Iâll keep using it for its regular function now đ

Fish are Happy!
I have been using API Stress Coat for several years and have had good results. Solution has been controlling chlorine levels in my ponds. Fish seem to be doing fine. I would recommend this solution to all who need to control chlorine levels added to tap water by City.

This stuff works.
This is one of the few products that API makes that works. I use it after every water change. The fish really relax when I use it. It has avacado oil in it and it helps to resolve the scales of the fish.

Great deal!
I purchased the 1 gallon bottle because I have to change my goldfish tank every 1.5/2 weeks so I use this stuff quite frequently and itâs much cheaper than buying the smaller bottles from PetSmart.

Great water conditioner and good for plants also!
I have been using this aquarium water conditioner for a few years in my cherry shrimp, dwarf Mexican crayfish, and nano fish tanks. One drop goes a long way to dechlorinate a gallon of water. The gallon will last a long time. After watching a YouTuber who uses this for his plant water I decided to try it myself. Time will tell if it actually improves the health of my many house plants. This is a name brand and high quality product. I highly recommend it.

Best for my plants
I saw that just a drop would be good for my plants. Chemicals in tap water just do not help. In just weeks I see a difference. Even with cold weather coming some of them are putting on new growth. My pine trees! Ha! Just try to add a drop.

Works great, but not safe for axolotls
Its actually a wonderful product, and works well. I’m mainly writing this review to let others know this product is not axolotl safe. I’m a beginner and was reccomended this by another axolotl owner. This product damages axolotl slime coat.It is my own fault, and I should have done more research. That being said, the product definitely did it’s job and lowered ph quite easily.

Again! Excellent product, I’m a new fish owner, never realized how much went into taking care of so many separate issues with my Betta, but now that I’m getting to know what he needs and what to do, he’s a happy Betta, and it’s all of my use of API products, which obviously has been good to my Betta cuz he’s still alive and very wellđ

This stuff is slick!
Seems like every time I do a water change my jacks and albino’s stop eating and just go down to the bottom and start doing some deep breathing? Now I add this in everytime and they don’t skip a beat…they just act normal. Cheap insurance. I always have a bottle on hand, the price is right and they give you a nice amount.

Saved my beta’s tail
My fish had developed fin rot and I tried everything, even erythromycin. Nothing worked, it got worse and worse. A petco lady recommended this. Within 2 or 3 weeks, the ends of his tail started to grow back and get their color. I will only ever buy this for my beta

Helped a case of fin rot
For some reason, my 2 bettas who in the same tank with a divider, developed a bad case of fin rot. I tried two courses of different medication before I felt they were doing better. However, their fins looked very ratty and at first I wasn’t sure if they had stopped rotting away or not. After doing some online research, I decided to add some Stress Coat to the water. What a difference! After a few days, I noticed dramatic improvement in their fins. They had stopped shredding and were starting to grow back in. They still haven’t grown in entirely, so I’m adding Stress Coat once a week with each water change, and I feel I can relax now and know they are on the road to recovery. They look so much better now, and they have perked up, back to their old normal selves. Prime delivery makes it possible to get this item really fast – especially if you’re like me and live miles from the nearest pet store.

Cheap, readily available, works great.
Been using this product for years now and it’s done its job just fine for my small tanks i just fill up a 5 gallon bucket same temperature as the tank water and i add a cupful to it. For my large tank I fill it with the Python no spill clean and fill hooks up directly to the tap and i add the Api to the tank as the water goes in. I found that it took a full minute to fill a 5 gallon bucket so as the water is going in the tank im watching a timer and every minute I add a cupful which is a little overkill but I’d rather be safe than sorry because sometimes the water treatment will add extra chlorine to the water. The one little con is that it does cloud the water for about a day but maybe thats because I add more than I need but it still gets the job done its cheap and readily available.

Necessary for Healthy Fish
If you have an aquarium of any size and are using a water conditioner only, you need to purchase this now! It keeps my fish so healthy and their coats are beautiful!!! Protects them from ick, fungus and so much more! My fish in the photos are all several years old. The two huge goldfish were won at a fair 5 YEARS AGO. They’re all thriving.

I LOVE API PRODUCTS
I wish the container could have been a bit bigger for the amount that I paid, but this will certainly last me up to 6-7 months with all of my tanks! I use the exact measurements that the directions state and my fish seem to thrive in the water treated with Stress Coat.

Use to water plants.
A YouTube gardener recommended this to add to tap water when watering indoor plants. Fish are very sensitive to chemicals, and this liquid is supposed to neutralize some of the nasty chlorine and chlorine products in tap water. I use 10 drops to each gallon of water. (I almost killed a beautiful prayer plant using untreated tap water!) My plants are thriving since I started using this.

My fish are still alive
Over a year ago I decided I would no longer wanted fish. I rescued cats and I couldn’t get them to stop eating the fish. But 3 fish were smart and avoided the cats at all costs. It’s been over a year and these fish won’t die. I bought this product on sale knowing I wasn’t going to replenish my fish tank once these fish died naturally. Welp, here it is, over a year later and I’m buying a new bottle because my fish are still healthy and happy and smarter than the cats. This is a great purchase. I highly recommend it if you want to keep your fish alive.

Mite Removal Care or Used for Better Molt with Hermit Crabs
This is cost effective and offers a variety of sizes, so with whatever you need or want to purchase at a time.I used this recently to treat my hermit crabs for mites. I gave them each a couple baths on a couple different days, and they seemed to enjoy it. It is supposed to be a gentler way to get the mites to detach without harming the hermit crabs. Plus, I’ve heard this can even be used to help them have a better molt. So, I may use it every so often.I highly recommend this product. My crabs have been happy and thriving ever since. đ
