Not good for losing weight
We had hoped this would be good for her and that using a smaller Amount of the food each time, she would lose a bit of weight. On to the next food. She did like the food though.

My dogs enjoyed this food!
My dogs are picky eaters and what they like one day is not always what they like the next day. However, they ate this food right off the bat. Most of my dogs tolerated the food well, which says a lot with their sensitive tummies. I have frenchies and an English bulldog. It’s not one they will eat everyday of the year, but certainly one they would eat often.

Highly Recommend
I have two bulldogs that are typically very sensitive to foods due to allergies. I love that Purina ProPlan has the option with no chicken. My dogs love it and this food has come highly recommended by many vets that I’ve spoken with.. and even better, I can get it on auto delivery with Prime, so no more going to the store to get it!

Not cheap but gets the job done
Our dog has a food allergy and this has been a consistent option for many months. It’s definitely not cheap but Amazon consistently offers the lowest price I’ve found for this size bag. I give it 5 stars for the flavor but I don’t speak from personal experience. 🙂 I just think that if my dog could talk, he’d probably give this one five stars. Then again, based on his other food consumption behaviors, I think he has pretty low standards. haha

Bad bag, made my dog sick.
I still gave four stars because generally this dog food is great. I have a dog who is 14 and usually requires prescription dog food because she’s allergic to 99 percent of normal store bought dog food and normal dog food makes her extremely sick (throw up and diarrhea also will leak blood out of her butt) But the prescription food is EXTREMELY expensive so about a year ago i decided to try this and it’s been amazing (also my vet recommended it as an alternative to prescription food) this is THE ONLY non-prescription dog food that doesn’t make her sick buttt that being said the last bag I bought has been making her sick. First night she ate it after a few hours she puked up ALL OF IT so I just thought maybe she didn’t feel well. Next day she puked it all up again. So I decided to not feed her for a day and just keep her hydrated and she would be fine. Well she was acting her normal self after a day of not eating so I gave the bag another chance and about two hours go by and she is sick AGAIN. Idk if it’s a bad batch or what but it’s definitely the food making her sick. I ended up ordering another bag to see if a new bag will have the same issues.

Gave our pup bumps
I was looking for a new dog food for our boy and came along this brand and flavor. It’s typically recommended by vets which is actually pretty awesome! We thought it would be quality food but our boy ended up breaking out with bumps all over his body. We also tried Purina Turkey and Venison which didn’t help. We figured it had to be the brand, switched to a different brand and he’s all clear now! Shiny fur and all. While this may work for most, it didn’t sit well with my boy. He’s half Doberman/half Great Dane.

My dog really enjoys this
She is an 11 year old collie and it is hard to find foods made for dogs over 7 years old, but this is one of them in fact, the only one I have found so far. Pro Plan has a great reputation, so I feel with this, I am doing the best I can for her. For crunch, I give her healthy treats (made in US).

My Dogs Love It!
It is so convenient to have this delivered on a pre-determined schedule. It is one less thing to worry about at the grocery. My dogs love the flavor (two will eat almost anything, to be fair, but my littlest pup is an extremely picky eater) and can eat this with no digestive issues. Positive experience with a subscribe and save!

My dog loves the salmon flavor
I have a large dog so this size works out great and my dog enjoys itThere is one confusing part of Purina proplan sensitive skin, salmon flavor. I keep forgetting which one he gets so I find one bag has a German shepherd on it, and the other one has an Irish setter. I buy the largest size that is available. The only difference between the type of dog, is it’s much smaller kibble on this one I bought, than on the other. I keep meaning to contact Purina. Both are salmon, is there any difference in the formula, or is it just the size of the kibble. Oh, Zi think the German Shepherd bag says large breedMy dog likes them both, and hopefully they help with skin drynessThe cost seems comparable with Chewy and Petsmart. You canno get this at the supermarket.

The best dog food for my dogs
I have always looked down a bit on Purina products thinking they were a little cheap. However, this particular food gets recommended by veterinarians many times over and again, in the Facebook group that I belong to that has many vets suggesting diets. I need a food without any chicken for one of my dogs who is allergic to it and I tried many expensive brands trying to find a non chicken dry food. I do top my dogs bowls with homemade food over the kibble but this is a fantastic base and my three dogs happily eat this plain. My one dog with the easily upset stomach and allergy to chicken looks excellent finally eating this food. My other two always looked great but they enjoy this food and its economical so I only have to purchase one.

Penny loves it!
Penny immediately hangs around when it is time to eat, whereas she sometimes skipped meals with her previous dog food. She seems to enjoy the flavor of the salmon, and she has less stomach upset, less itching, and fewer hot spots now that we have switched over to feeding her this food. Our veterinarian recommended this brand as his preferred dog food, and it is what the entire staff feeds their dogs as well. While this brand costs more than others, it is worth the cost.

Best food to have happened to my pup!
I adopted my pup Fin back in May 2020 and he came to me overweight (weighting in at 50 pounds when goal weight was lower 40’s), he had big, flakey dandruff all over his back and lots of itching. He had previously been on a diet that had corn syrup in the first five ingredients. He wouldn’t eat any food I’d put in front of him (I tried 3 other dog foods, dry food only). After two days of not eating, I tried feeding him homemade dog food consisting of brown rice, carrots, peas and boiled chicken and chicken bone broth, but he wouldn’t eat this either. So to say the least, it was a journey to find something he’d not only eat, but also help with him being able to lose some weight and reduce or heal his skin issues and become a happy pup.I’ve waited two months to write this review to ensure I gave it enough time to judge and for his body to adjust to his new diet. And I’m happy to say: He loves this food! He eats 1/3 of a cup twice a day and we take 3-4 walks a day, plus playtime. He gets a salmon supplement of two treat in the morning. Since we started this food he has lost 6 pounds (within two months), his dandruff has almost completely disappeared, his teeth are healthier, he’s more energetic, his 💩 is easy to pick up and healthy, he’s not itching, and most importantly, he actually is excited for breakfast and dinner! Since it’s quite hot outside now (90+degrees) during the summer I reduced his regular 1/2 cup twice a day to the 1/3 of a cup twice a day since we don’t go for runs but will probably up his food once we start hiking and running in the fall.Overall this food has been a true blessing for my rescue and he loves it with every meal. Thank you Purina! 🙂

Used to be 5-star but recent batch made my Pug sick
I’m not one to follow all the ins and outs of various dog food brands. I try to trust the science and expertise of people who know more than me — which is why, when two years ago my vet suggested switching my Pug over to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach, I figured I’d give it a shot.My dog liked it — she’s a pug, she likes anything — but whether the “sensitive skin and stomach” properties were anything more than a marketing ploy, I really doubt. But why rock the boat if the dog likes it? I was told by the vet that chicken-based products are the devil now, despite the fact that Royal Canin Pug food is chicken based. Who knows? There’s so much misinformation. But the last batch we got in late 2023 has consistently made her sick to her stomach. I thought maybe it was something else, but then I started reading all the recent reviews about this food is causing the same exact GI issues in other dogs — extreme gas, diarrhea, won’t finish her food on some days, etc. It’s really bad, and it really worries me.Neither my vet nor I can’t find any other explanation. The fact that so many other people are citing these exact issues leads me to believe there’s something going on with the food.I’m going to try Royal Canine pug food, even though it’s chicken based. I just don’t trust any of these dog food companies. It’s so hard to cut through the bs and find the answer to a very simple question — WHAT”S A GOOD FOOD FOR MY DOG?!It shouldn’t be this hard. Clearly Purina knows there’s an issue. While there hasn’t been a recall yet, I’m willing to bet we’ll hear something in the near future. I’m simply not willing to buy another bag of this food and potentially continue poisoning my otherwise happy, health 3-year old Pug.We need answers from Purina. This is getting outrageous. Just google “Purina Pro Plan made my dog sick” and you’ll see a CASCADE of negative reviews from the last six months.

Dog Likes It
I began using this dog food last summer when my dog was breaking out with skin rashes. It seems to have helped with the rashes a lot. No rash yet this year. It is the salmon and rice for sensitive skin and stomach. It doesn’t contain any chicken meal at all. It does have a strong odor of fish because of the flavor it is. The dog likes it. I don’t like the fact that it has a lot of crumbs when you get to the bottom of the bag and that it is so expensive. But if it helps with the rash I will continue using it.

I Did Not Plan for This
Pup was having some “tummy” issues so the vet recommending switching him to this dog food, which is why I bought it.The absolutely worse smelling dog food I can remember smelling. Thankfully, the pup liked it and ate it with no issues. It seemed to help his issue better than his prior long time dog food, so while not a miracle cure, I would say it was a noticeable difference with the digestive issues he was having. If you have a need for this type of specialized food for your pup, and you can stand the horrible smell, odds are it will be an option worth trying.

WE HAVE A WINNER!
WE HAVE A WINNER! Finally! Over the past two months, I’ve spent hours researching various brands of dog food for our picky little princess and adopted senior Boxer. I overwhelmed not only by the volume of choices, but in a lot of cases, the unbelievably high prices. It made my head spin! In the process of testing various brands, I’d lost count of how many we purchased that our Boxer either tolerated or just outright rejected, to the point where she was losing weight. When Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach arrived, she greedily ate it right out of my hand! I was thrilled! BONUS – she’s stopped chewing on her feet!!!

Ants in bag
Normally, I have not had problems with this product. I have an auto subscription. I have heard hesitancies doing this from multiple people, they said the quality is not as good or the storage of these bags are not great. I just received a 30 pound bag of food, with ants all in it. I did not notice at first until the ants were crawling all around my bathroom with a trail led to only the food. I thought it was coming from the walls, but the next day they were only in the food and only the bag I originally got. There were no ant trails leading to the “nest” other than the food itself. Come to find out that there have been more people who have had similar problems with ants and ordering from Amazon. Amazon is sending me a new bag, but I am hesitant to even keep renewing if this is the quality of the product when its subscribed. I have never had issues with the food itself or from buying it from the stores, my dog loves it and has helped a lot with his stomach issues.

HELPED MY FRENCHIE WITH ALLERGIES!
I wanted to wait a little while before writing this review to see if it was really going to help or not.My French Bulldog Maelee had been suffering from food allergies for the past couple years. We had went to the vet numerous times and she had to be given antibiotics and ear drops that she had to take on a weekly basis for maintenance to keep ear infections from returning. I did some research on my own, to figure out that recurring ear infections are often a sign of food allergies or intolerance. I switched her food a couple times, trying to steer away from Chicken and just change the protein and I didn’t see a change until I switched to this food. Since this wasn’t a typical limited ingredient diet, rather a specialty diet I thought it was worth a shot it being a little bit cheaper than some of the other options but quiet a bit more expensive than the Purina Beneful or Purina One SmartBlend.I had initially started out with Beneful then changed to Purina one Smartblend with chicken then switching to lamb and it was with those dog foods she was having the allergic reactions to.She would shake her head, scratch her ears, bite her feet, and rub against the furniture all the time like she was so miserable. She would scratch scabs in her ears and it absolutely broke my heart, I can’t take that!! I knew I had to do something and not let her suffer, she is my baby. The vet didn’t mention allergies after the few times we kept taking her back for ear infections, but I’m a responsible pet owner and did the research myself to figure out the cause. (No offense to our vet he’s a wonderful doctor) If your dog is suffering from allergies this food is a really good choice and worth a try. While it may be a little pricey it is well worth the reward in your dog will be a lot happier and healthier.Since switching to this food, she is no longer itching, biting her feet and we have weaned off of the maintenance ear drops from the vet even. I couldn’t be happier~! The quality of life when a dog has allergies has to be absolutely miserable. I was determined to keep switching, paying any amount of money to get my dog back to normal. We also tried the Zippy Paws Aller-Immune chews right around the same time we switched to this dog food, and I’m still giving her those as well. Some of the other reviewers said there were bugs in this dog food. There were no bugs in our bag of dog food and Salmon is the first ingredient. Reading the list of ingredients is a lot better compared to some of the other dog food brands in this category.I couldn’t recommend this dog food enough, and I’ll continue to dish the money out each month to give it to my dog if that means she doesn’t have to suffer from itchy skin and ear infections. If your on the fence about buying this because of all the negative reviews regarding bugs, I inspected my bag thoroughly and there were NO BUGS! Also Purina has very good quality control and I am loyal to this brand.**UPDATE** 09/27/2022My Frenchie has had to go back to the maintenance ear drops from the vet. It’s luckily just a call in prescription no longer requiring an exam every time but she does have to take them again. I don’t think it’s anything to do with her diet anymore rather environmental allergies on top of the protein sensitivity. This food is still working great for her. When the ear infection returned we decided to switch to Hills prescription diet d/d salmon formula, buying it from our local vet and was a lot more expensive than this food. We kept her on that for months but no change in her ears so we switched back to this. I’m still happy with this food and know it’s made her allergies a lot better. There’s just unfortunately not much you can do for environmental allergies besides allergy medicine to help from the vet. We limit her treats and try to stick with single ingredient freeze dried salmon. She’s my life and I would do anything for her. Hope this helps other dogs with food sensitivities feel better too!!If you find my review helpful please click the helpful button below, as I wrote this in hopes it would help at least one person!

When Purina Pro Plan Focus was discontinued, I was very disappointed. The food was lamb and rice, and my dog loved it.Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach was the only Purina Pro Plan dog food I could find that would fit her. I only feed her hard kibble and so many Pro Plans have shredded meat in with the hard food, which was not an option. Willow loves the salmon and rice formula, so that’s what I’ll stick with. Bonus: No fishy smell.

I can’t attest to the question about “flavor” (which made me laugh, what a silly question to ask a pet owner about dog food!), but you can’t find this blend of ingredients often, and our dog loves it. Price point is better than in stores, and we have been really happy at how quickly Amazon gets it to us over its competitor.

I had recently switched my dogs food for the first time over to this one because her poops smelled extremely bad. Unfortunately she wouldn’t eat it after about a week of switching over to it. I would put it in her dish in the morning and she wouldn’t touch it until 5pm. I have a 1 year old french bulldog. I switched her back to her old food which is chicken and rice based and she’s eating again. I was going to return the bag but it had been more than 30 days which sucks because now I have to waste almost a full bag (my fault for not trying a smaller bag first)!

Alway add veggies
6 yr old W. German likes taste of this more than Science Hill brand for sensitive stomach I try to always add cooked sweet potatoes, Squash, okra, and or green beans. I add one of my chicken eggs daily. This is first time she will actually clean out her bowl in one setting. She still has some itching issues at times. But take care with diluted Himalayan salt diluted in h20, Echinacea extract, charcoal. or a little turpentine directly on area. Never having to take her to a vet. and tx natural remedies is key to a healthy pet in my opinion.

Best product for my dogs tummy and skin
My dogs love this. Sometimes it’s hard to find as I have this on auto ship and we swap, then my dogs get itchy, which is annoying for them. We love this product.

My German Shepherd loves it!
I have a 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd. She has been on Pro Plan since she was a puppy. I have been feeding her the Salmon for Sensitive Skin and Sensitive Stomach for Large Breeds for nearly 2 years now and it is an excellent product. Lately she seemed to get bored with her regular food so I thought I would try her out on a small 4 lb bag of the Lamb and Oatmeal to see if she liked it. She loves it! I only wish it would come in the bigger pellets for large breed dogs because she can eat this one without chewing. The Lamb kibble consists of smaller triangles instead of the large round pellets in Salmon for large breeds. I fixed the problem by feeding her a scoop of the larger Salmon kibble with a scoop of the smaller Lamb on top. That is working very well. She eats everything with enthusiasm and since the larger kibble is mixed in with the smaller stuff she still has to take her time and chew her food. Both types are great for her skin and coat and are easily digested. I just ordered the larger 24 lb bag of Lamb and will continue to give her a scoop of each as that is working so well. I hope Purina will make the Lamb for large breeds available as an option in the near future.

Dog likes it
My dog is 1 year old and needs adult food. He started with salmon and rice as a puppy and now we give him the adult version. Very well received by dog

Salmon based.
Can you believe my dog developed a chicken allergy at age 10? Vet said to feed him fish food. He actually loves this. Do foxes get chicken allergy too? What parts of the salmon get used in this? Not the filets, I’m guessing

My dog loves it!
My dog loves this food and digests it easily compared to regular dog food types. His skin is less itchy so he licks & bites himself less. We tried a smaller bag and now purchase larger bags since it has worked so well for him
